 WHY APGA IS CONTESTING IN THE OSUN LOCAL GOVERNMENT POLL FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE ITS INCEPTION IN THE STATE

For the first time since its inception, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Osun State has been cleared to participate in the upcoming local government election. 

This historic achievement marks a major turning point for the party in the state, as there has been no verifiable record or evidence that APGA has previously contested in the local government elections in Osun.

The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) recently granted clearance to APGA candidates, signaling the party's readiness to play an active role in the local governance process. 

This milestone reflects the party’s growth, as it has worked tirelessly to build its structures, engage with the electorate, and prepare for participation in future elections.

The decision to join the local government election for the first time is significant, as it not only signals APGA’s commitment to serving the people of Osun but also highlights its resolve to offer an alternative governance model. With APGA’s involvement, the people of Osun now have a choice to elect leaders who are focused on accountability, transparency, and community-driven progress at the local level.

Over the past year, APGA has made significant strides in terms of party programming, structural upgrades, and visibility within Osun. The party has also strengthened its organizational framework, building a foundation for success in this election. From grassroots mobilization to strategic meetings, APGA has demonstrated a clear commitment to preparing its candidates and supporters for the challenges ahead.

A major factor in the party’s success has been the unwavering support from the national leadership of APGA, particularly from the National Chairman, Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa. His guidance, encouragement, and advocacy for the Osun chapter have been invaluable in securing the necessary approvals for the party’s participation. 

Barr. Ezeokenwa's strategic direction and collaboration with the Osun chapter have played a critical role in reaching this significant milestone.

Additionally, the party has benefitted greatly from the support of the National Vice Chairman (Southwest), Alh. Suraj Owolabi. His counsel, leadership, and constant presence have ensured that the Osun chapter was well-prepared for this important election.
